Refined Design

Quiet operation, refined down to the gear

Avinox uses high-strength, high-toughness polymer materials to suppress noise when the gearbox operates at high speed. The new-generation M2S features a dual-meshing gear design that eliminates gear backlash — reducing pedal kickback noise and ensuring a quiet ride.

Sustained Performance

Cooling engineered for continuous power

The new-generation M2S Drive Unit integrates a temperature sensor, paired with all-new cooling fins and flat-wire windings. The result: significantly improved heat dissipation and energy conversion efficiency for stable, sustained high-power output.

Across the Lineup

Dial it in — five assist modes across every Avinox drive unit

Every Avinox drive unit — M1, M2 and M2S — runs the same assist system: four riding modes plus a dedicated Boost. Parameters including assist level, max torque and start assist are all adjustable via the Avinox Ride app, the on-bike display, or the bar-mounted wireless controller. Changes sync instantly. You're never locked into a preset, and you never need to stop to make one.

The four standard modes run from Eco at 46N·m — maximum battery preservation for long days — through Trail at 91N·m, the balanced sweet spot for most singletrack, up to Turbo at 117N·m for sustained steep climbing.

Then there's Boost: 150N·m, instant start-up, 60seconds. For the moments when the trail demands everything at once. That spread means the same bike can sit composed on a long enduro day and come alive when the terrain calls for it.

Three Ways to Tune

Full control — from the app, the display, or the bar

The Avinox system gives you three ways to adjust your ride, and none of them require you to stop. Between the three, you're covered whether you're prepping at the trailhead, adapting to a change in gradient, or reacting to something unexpected mid-descent.

Via App
Avinox Ride App

Via the Avinox Ride app, you can customise assist mode layouts, set torque curves, adjust power output and fine-tune start assist — with changes syncing to the motor instantly. It's where the serious setup work happens, and it rewards riders who want to dial things in precisely.

Via Control Display
On-bike Display

Via the control display you can switch modes and modify parameters directly without touching your phone. Useful mid-ride when conditions change and you want an immediate response.

Via Wireless Controller
Bar-mounted Remote

The bar-mounted wireless controller gives you mode adjustments at the press of a button, with real-time feedback on the display. On technical terrain, being able to shift assist level without taking a hand off the bar properly matters.

Intelligent Assist

Smart sensing that reads the trail with you

The Avinox drive system runs an inertial measurement unit (IMU) alongside a wheel speed sensor, monitoring bike dynamics and riding status continuously. That real-time awareness feeds four intelligent assist functions that respond to what the bike and rider are actually doing — not just what mode you've selected.

Heart Rate Monitoring

Connect a heart rate monitor and enable Smart Heart Rate Control. The system automatically adjusts assist settings to keep your heart rate within the optimal training zone — for an efficient and secure ride.

Hill Start Assist

When starting on a slope, the M2S provides additional torque to counteract gravity — enabling riders to start easily on uphill terrain.

The Technology

What is the DJI Avinox drive system?

DJI — the company best known for drone and camera technology — entered the e-bike market with the Avinox system, and it arrived with a very specific rider in mind. This is not a motor built for casual commuting or relaxed trail days. It's built for riders who want serious climbing power, low overall bike weight, and a ride feel that doesn't compromise the way a traditional eMTB often does.

The Avinox motor produces up to 1,500W of peak power with torque figures that compete with the best units on the market. But the number that stands out most for performance-focused riders is the weight — the motor unit itself comes in under 2.59kg, significantly lighter than most comparable systems. That allows bike brands to build Avinox-powered machines that feel genuinely agile on trail, not just powerful in a straight line.

The system pairs with an integrated display, DJI's own app for ride data and settings, and battery options designed to keep the overall package tight and trail-ready.

  • To achieve 1500 W peak power output in Boost mode using the M2S, the Avinox FP700 or RS800 battery is required. To achieve this peak in regular assist modes, the M2S must be paired with the FP700 battery.
FAQs

Common Questions about the DJI Avinox

Quick answers to the questions our team hears most often. Need more detail? Speak to our specialists in-store, or get in touch with the workshop team.

What is the DJI Avinox motor?

The DJI Avinox is a mid-drive e-bike motor system developed by DJI, the technology company known for drones and camera equipment. It produces up to 1,000W peak power, weighs under 2kg, and is designed for performance-focused trail and enduro riding. It pairs with integrated batteries, a handlebar display, and DJI’s smartphone app.

How much does a DJI Avinox bike cost?

Avinox-powered bikes typically sit in the premium eMTB segment. Pricing varies by brand and build, but most Avinox bikes are positioned as high-performance machines with specifications to match. Our current range is priced and detailed on this page — our team can also discuss build options if you have specific requirements.

Which bikes come with the DJI Avinox motor?

A growing number of brands have adopted the Avinox system, including Commencal, Megamo, Amflow, Forbidden, Mondraker and others. At Leisure Lakes Bikes, we stock a curated selection of Avinox-powered models — check our current listings above or speak to our team about availability.

How does the DJI Avinox compare to Bosch?

Both are capable systems aimed at different rider priorities. Bosch offers a mature ecosystem with broad service coverage. The DJI Avinox offers higher peak power in a lighter package, with a more performance-focused ride feel. Riders who prioritise outright power and responsiveness tend to find the Avinox compelling; riders who prioritise long-term ecosystem support may lean toward Bosch. We’re happy to talk through both in detail.

What is the DJI Avinox M2S?

The M2S is DJI’s latest and most advanced Avinox motor variant, building on the M2 with further refinements to power delivery and ride feel. Read our full M2S breakdown here.

Does the DJI Avinox have a range extender?

Yes. DJI offers an Avinox range extender battery that attaches to compatible bikes and extends the total available capacity. It’s a useful option for riders planning longer or more demanding days in the hills.

Can I get a DJI Avinox bike serviced in the UK?

As an authorised retailer and workshop, Leisure Lakes Bikes can support servicing for Avinox-powered bikes in our range. Speak to our workshop team to discuss your requirements.

Is the DJI Avinox system reliable?

The Avinox is a newer system compared to long-established alternatives, and DJI’s track record in precision electronics is strong. Early rider feedback has been largely positive, particularly around power delivery and motor responsiveness. As with any newer platform, we’d encourage riders to discuss long-term support considerations with our team before purchasing.

What does the DJI Avinox app do?

The DJI app connects to the Avinox system via Bluetooth and allows riders to adjust assist modes, monitor battery and ride data, check system status, and apply firmware updates. It’s part of what makes the Avinox system attractive to tech-focused riders who want more control over their setup.

Where can I test ride a DJI Avinox bike?
