Trek has unveiled the all-new Slash Gen 6.
Setting a new benchmark for long-travel performance, the re-imagined Slash features massive 170mm front & rear suspension, revolutionary aggressive geometry and more ways to personalise your ride than ever before.
Could the new Slash be your ideal long-travel ripper? Here’s everything you need to know about Trek’s latest offering…
Longer Travel
Extra long, 170mm/170mm front & rear travel is more than enough for stomping big jumps and soaking up massive hits.
A new high-pivot suspension setup has a rearward axle path that gives Slash insanely smooth suspension. Everything you need to make light work of the most brutal trails.
Extra Aggressive
Super slack 63.5° head angle provides downhill stability, while a steep 77° seat angle helps transfer power to the pedals.
This long reach gives you room to manoeuvre, plus there’s room for extra-long droppers, with most riders able to run up to 200mm!
Party In The Back
A rig made for the steepest terrain has to come with a mullet setup out of the box. The 29er up front brings monster-truck capability with a 27.5 in the back for more acceleration & agility.
If you still crave full 29er speed, it’s easily achieved by swapping the lower shock mount brackets.
Always Prepared
Internal frame storage makes it easy to carry your ride essentials without weighing you down.
The perfect place to stash an extra layer, snacks or tools for a quick trailside repair.
Go Your Own Way
With absolutely tons of adjustability for even the most scrupulous riders, the all-new Slash can be tuned to your own perfection.
Adjust the head angle one degree steeper or slacker with optional angle-adjust headset cups. Use the chip at the lower shock mount to adjust the leverage rate.
“Not only is the Slash easier to pedal than other high-pivot bikes, but this thing scrambles right up super chunky, techy climbs. It maintains more upward momentum and the back wheel doesn’t get hung on the edge of roots or rocks.” – Trek
High Pivot
Slash’s high main pivot allows the rear axle to move slightly rearwards as the suspension compresses.
This means the back wheel can move with the force from impacts rather than against them, so it’s easier to barrel over obstacles than on a bike with a more traditional vertical axle path.
Extra Pulleys?
You may be wondering… what’s with the extra pulleys?
As the rear axle moves backwards, it tugs on the chain, which pulls back on the crank. That pedal kickback makes for a harsh ride on the legs.
The new Slash routes the chain around idler pulleys giving it room to grow without extra tension, so you don’t get that harsh pedal kickback.
