I replaced the grips on my bike with these Sniper lock-ons about a year ago, so they've seen plenty of miles, muddy rides and sweaty hands. RaceFace claims they're a narrow diameter; I'd call them a medium, although that's no bad thing as they're some of the most comfortable lock-on grips I've used for that size. In terms of wear, these have held up well, it's only the small bald patch where my thumb sits that gives away the use they've had.

The Grip itself has been surprising; if I saw these on a shop shelf I'd probably discount them because of the fairly smooth-looking pattern, but that would be a mistake. Even in the rain I've not had a problem; the rubber compound strikes an excellent balance between comfort, grip and wear. Fitting or slipping isn't an issue either thanks to the ODI lock-on design and they come in plenty of colours. It's a sorted grip that does its job well - the only negative is that replacement cartridges (that's the central grip part) are not available separately.

Verdict: 4/5
