The brand new bike from Hope Technology has officially launched! The Hope HB.130 is a 29er, mid-travel carbon bike that’s billed as the ultimate all-rounder, and is sure to be at the top of every riders wish list!

Still designed, tested & produced all in-house at their HQ in Barnoldswick, Hope designed the HB.130 out of a desire to build a bike that their engineers and designers wanted to ride.

Hope HB130 – Ultimate all-rounder

Built as a true do-it-all machine, Hope wanted the HB130 to be able to defeat the local technical climbs, but still be ready to tackle their favourite Lake District descents and trail centres. Geometry is key with the Hope HB130 and with the angles they’ve chosen, the bike is playful yet controllable in whatever situation you get into on the trail. The bike rolls on 29er wheels and features 130mm of rear travel, which creates a bike that chews up technical climbs, rips along the flats then thrashes the downs.

Hope entered the carbon game a few years ago, and debuted with their HB160. Since then they’ve managed to refine & perfect their process, while still keeping it all in-house.

You’ll also notice the HB.130’s designers have paid particular attention to the aesthetics of the bike. The front triangle has a curvaceous, sleek look while the rear triangle retains that trademark Hope CNC look with beautifully machined chain stays. As ever, the full bike option is fully kitted out in the highest quality Hope components. However, for the HB.130, Hope are introducing a frame kit option for those who wish to put their own stamp on a Hope bike.

Hope Tech - UK Carbon Production

There's a wealth of knowledge around carbon fibre in the UK, with the majority of the current F1 teams being based here as well as a thriving aerospace industry. This gives Hope access to some of the worlds most talented carbon fibre engineers. The challenge was taking their skill at producing batches of two components, and scaling it up to production quantities.

Since Hope's existing products are manufactured using the processes most companies only use to produce their first prototypes (CNC machined rather than cast or precision forged) it's not been an unusual experience for Hope. Mould production has been one of the easiest processes since these are made on CNC machines and they already have a few of these.

Cutting and laying up the carbon sheet is quite a labour intensive process, but keeping production on site in Barnoldswick gives Hope total confidence in the quality of parts produced.

In the past there have been reservations internally about the safety of manufacturing in carbon fibre and although carbon fibre production is a relatively new process to Hope, with the correct controls & working practices in place, it can be made an extremely safe process. Also by manufacturing in their own factory in the UK, Hope abide to strict health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe working environment for their staff.
