Coinciding with our own 40th Anniversary, we want to celebrate with a fundraising campaign &amp; combined&nbsp;<strong>100 Years Charity Raffle<\/strong>, with 100 prizes over a value of \u00a3100 each!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justgiving.com\/campaigns\/charity\/britishheartfoundation\/leisurelakesbikes2021\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/license.citruslime.com\/cs\/blogs\/llke\/bhf-image-banner-LLB_5B0B3011.jpg\" alt=\"bhf-image-banner-LLB\" title=\"British Heart Foundation\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Marking six decades of progress and achievement for the&nbsp;<strong>British Heart Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;is a momentous occasion. 60 years ago, the proper causes and treatments for a heart attack or heart defect were not fully understood. Today, thanks to the hard work and research of BHF, 8 out of 10 babies born with a congenital defect will survive to adulthood and the number of deaths from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK has been halved. Modern treatments built on BHF-funded discovery now mean that around seven out of ten people who suffer a heart attack will now survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;<strong>British Heart Foundation\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;funded research has enabled access to machines &amp; technology that can restart hearts, perform life-saving operations on newborn babies and even carry out entire heart transplants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justgiving.com\/campaigns\/charity\/britishheartfoundation\/leisurelakesbikes2021\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/license.citruslime.com\/cs\/blogs\/llke\/bhf-image-cartoon_61BE3994.jpg\" alt=\"bhf-image-cartoon\" title=\"Beating Heartbreak Together\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">60 Years of British Heart Foundation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Since the BHF was established the annual number of deaths from heart and circulatory diseases in the UK has fallen by around a half.<\/li><li>In the 1960s more than 7 out of 10 heart attacks in the UK were fatal. Today, at least 7 out of 10 people will survive.<\/li><li>The BHF is the largest independent funder of heart and circulatory disease treatment in the UK.<\/li><li>Heart and circulatory diseases cause around a quarter of all deaths in the UK, that\u2019s more than 160,000 deaths each year \u2013 an average of 460 deaths each day or one every three minutes in the UK.<\/li><li>There are around 7.6 million people living with a heart or circulatory disease in the UK: 4 million men and 3.6 million women.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some of us are unfortunate enough to know someone who has suffered from a heart-related illness or even lost their life. Through fundraising, promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising awareness of the symptoms of heart-related illnesses; we can do our part to help the&nbsp;<strong>British Heart Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;beat the heartbreak caused by these illnesses forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each&nbsp;<strong>Leisure Lakes Bikes<\/strong>&nbsp;store will be starting its own initiatives to raise money towards our collective desired goal, from sponsored rides &amp; fitness challenges to volunteer work. Supporting the&nbsp;<strong>British Heart Foundation<\/strong>&nbsp;is now more vital than ever.
