The Merida ONE-SIXTY 800 is one of the biggest showstoppers in the full suspension range. Fully at home on the demanding tracks of the Enduro World Series. A truly agile Lightweight 6066 Aluminium and Carbon rocker.

The Merida ONE-SIXTY 800 is one of the biggest showstoppers in the full suspension range. Fully at home on the demanding tracks of the Enduro World Series, ridden by Toni Ferreiro, the ONE-SIXTY has also gained press accolades. FLOW calls it ‘a genuine contender as the best trail bike we’ve ridden at this price point’ and ‘it just looked right – the right angles, the right components, at the right prices.’

Merida One-Sixty-800 Highlights

One-Sixty Lite Frame. A truly agile Lightweight 6066 series triple butted and hydroformed aluminium frame with smooth welding. Including a full carbon rocker arm for even more stiffness and reducing central weight around the bottom bracket. A Tapered head tube and Boost standard bolt through axles for precise handling. ‘Smart Entry’ cable routing for rattle free running.

Float Link Suspension. The lower shock mount moves with the system to deliver plushness and pedalling efficiency. Our engineers can precisely influence the transmission ratio and progression, which means that a ‘Float Link’ system is very sensitive, delivering great support in mid-travel and the appearance of more than the model name suggests. Our ‘Float Link’ rear ends create the feeling of almost bottomless travel whilst remaining perfectly controlled when climbing.

Trunnion Shock Mount. A trunnion mount shock gives our frame designers more flexibility by using a shorter shock with increased stroke. Combined with the ball bearing bushing of the upper mount, shock sensitivity is increased, and the suspension performance can be perfectly tuned.

Geometry. Race proven and loved by the international cycling press, our ONE-SIXTY combines super short 430 mm chainstays for increased agility and playfulness, with a long reach, slack head angles and a low centre of gravity, delivering an aggressive enduro geometry.

Boost Technology. ‘Boost’ standard front & rear. The extra 6 mm rear hub and 10 mm front hub spacing in comparison with conventional hubs brings the width up to 148 mm / 110 mm and allows for a shallower spoke angle for an even stiffer and stronger wheel. On top of that, the chain line moves outwards – an important requirement for short chainstays.

0 Available as a combination of carbon front end and 6016 aluminium rear or as an all-aluminium version. Carrying only a small amount of extra weight over the carbon/aluminium frame version, this offers an excellent alternative for riders preferring an all-metal setup or those on a tight budget. All 2019 models will come with a full carbon rocker arm for even more stiffness and reduced weight.

How To Measure Yourself

Measure Your Height

Our handy size charts match your height to the appropriate frame size so you need to be sure you’ve measured your height accurately.

  1. Take off your shoes and stand with your back against a wall.
  2. Make sure legs are together and your shoulders are back.
  3. Place a pencil on top of your head and mark the wall (the best and easiest way to do this properly is with a friend to help you).
  4. Measure from the floor to the pencil mark you have just made with a tape measure.

Range of Reach

For most people to get the right frame size, measuring your height will suffice. However, you may find that your height is on the borderline of the range we suggest for a particular frame. If this occurs you need to measure the range of your reach or “Ape Index”. This will ensure you get a comfortable distance between the handlebars and your saddle.

  1. Stand up straight with your back against a wall.
  2. Life your arms out horizontally either side of you.
  3. Measure the distance from fingertip of one hand to fingertip of the other. This will give you your arm span.
  4. Subtract your height from this figure to get your Ape Index.
  5. If the result is positive (your arm span is greater than your height) you should go for the larger size of bike.
  6. If the result is negative (your arm span is less than your height you need the smaller size.

Stand Over Height

You should also consider your inside leg measurement when choosing your bike to ensure adequate stand over height. Stand over height is the clearance between the top tube and the bottom of your crotch. For mountain bikes we recommend a distance of 2-4 inches and for road or hybrid bikes 1-2 inches of clearance is required. This will ensure comfort when you’re stopped and standing astride the bike.

Our bike sizing charts take stand over height into consideration but if you have a particularly long or short inside leg measurement in relation to your height you will need to bear this in mind when selecting your frame size.

Riding Style

The way you ride and the type of bike you are into will also impact the frame size you should choose. For example, a trail devotee looking for an aggressive ride may prefer a smaller, more manoeuvrable bike size. It all comes down to personal preference and how the bike feels to you.

Our sizing charts aim to be as specific as possible so you can look up the particular type, make and model of bike you’re looking for. Remember, the sizes given in our guides are suggestions and should be used for general advice only. For the best possible fit  we recommend popping in to your local Leisure Lakes Bikes store, or call 0800 083 0888 for expert advice tailored to you
