2Bliss: This is Specialized talk for Tubeless Ready. Tubeless tyres provide the rider with many benefits: the ability to run lower air pressures, which improves traction; lower rolling resistance when compared to a tube-type tyre; and less chance of flatting since there is no tube.
Foldable Bead: Foldable beads also keep the tyre secured to the rim but are lighter weight and easily transported.
Threads Per Inch (TPI): The number of threads that cross through one square inch of a single ply of the tyre's casing. Lower TPI gives better puncture, cut and abrasion resistance but is heavier. Higher TPI conforms better to the terrain, offering a smoother, more comfortable ride while reducing the weight of the tyre.
Gripton: The Gripton compound uses 'mostly synthetic rubber reinforced with silicon dioxide', reducing the amount of energy lost through hysteresis. This basically means less deformation, less heat build-up, and a more efficient tyre with improved rolling resistance when compared to natural rubber. The Gripton compound is soft, allowing it to adapt and conform to rough surfaces.
Grid: Added sidewall protection to help prevent cuts and flats in the tyre, also offers greater stability.
Butyl Inserts: Pinch protection, added butyl inserts at the bead of the tyre.
Control: This is Specialized talk for dual compound. Effectively the centre of the tyre runs a hard compound in the middle for a faster rolling speed and a hard wearing tyre. The sides of the tyres use a softer compound for better grip and traction in cornering, under braking and in challenging conditions/terrain.
Compounds Explained: The higher the number the harder the compound, the lower the number the softer the compound. I.E the softest Butcher Tyres are the DH variant as the top on this tyre is made of 42a rubber.
