The Hope Oval Spiderless Retainer Ring is designed specifically for their new cranks and uses a narrow/wide design to grip onto the chain and stop it from dismounting when riding over harsh and uneven terrain, which theoretically means you can ditch your chain guide for this simple and clean looking system. It mounts directly to the crank's axle and does away with the need of a spider which means you save a whole heap of weight.

The Retainer Ring is designed to work with 9,10 and 11 speed set-ups and it provides a quieter drivetrain with less drag. The ring has a 12% ovality and 113 degree clocking, this shape helps you to produce a more efficient pedal stroke by narrowing the diameter of the weakest point and widening the diameter to the strongest point. The CNC machined 7075-T6 aluminium construction provides the perfect blend of light weight and strength whilst the hard anodised finish makes it ultra durable.
