The Cube Stereo Super HPC 160 SL is an aggressive trail bike that's also suited for rides in alpine areas. It has a frame and components lightweight yet sturdy offering plenty in reserve when the going gets tough. It has a Super HPC Monocoque carbon frame that has been created using a high-tech Advanced Twin Mould process. This eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process. The frame also has integrate cable routing to reduce weight, give the bike a clean look, and prevent any unnecessary dirt building up around the cables.
This Cube Mountain Bike has been created for any serious mountain bikers; it features some of the finest components and an extremely lightweight carbon frame. It has Cube's Efficient Trail Control, its new configured linear low lever ratio makes the bike very sensitive, so it avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. It has steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent.
This bike features the powerful Formula The One hydraulic disc brakes for perfect control in rough terrain; they also have adjustable levers and bite point for optimum ergonomics. This bike is a part of the Stereo Super HPC Range from Cube and features their Agile Rider Geometry. The bike has been tried, tested and created to ensure that when you ride a Cube 29er, you'll immediately feel at home and you'll maintain a natural riding position as well as retain the lively handling feel of 26" bikes.
This bike also has an excellent fork and shock suspension combo. The Stereo Super HPC 160 SL has a Fox 34 Talas CTD 650B Air Fork; it has a sophisticated damping system, tapered steerer, QR15 thru axle and 120/160mm travel. It also has a Kashima Coated Fox Float CTD Adjust BoostValve rear shock with three damping modes, adjustable rebound and Cube custom setup, so you can be sure your suspension system has been finely tuned to your needs by the experts.
The Cube Stereo Super HPC also comes equipped with a Syntace X12 rear axle system for maximum stiffness, functionality and user-friendly handling. It also has SRAM X0 components with a carbon fibre crank to make pedalling feel almost weightless, and it has Rock Shox Reverb Stealth adjustable seatpost to make your ride extra comfortable. Plus it has a DT Swiss CSW AM 2.7 straight pull 650B wheel set, a stiff all-mountain rim with QR15 and X12 stud axles.
This Cube Full Suspension FR Mountain Bike also comes with a Press Fit Bottom bracket, meaning that its bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chain stays. It also comes with a tapered steerer; this new steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means that the greatest possible steering precision is generated.
Features
Advanced Twin Mould: The Advanced Twin Mould process eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process. This is made possible by an internal form which provides the perfect frame form during the layup process. Each individual fibre remains precisely in position as it cures. In this way less material can be used as the individual layers can be more accurately and reliably positioned. This production method also makes it possible to increase the carbon fibre proportion in line with anticipated loadings at specific points on the frame. In 2013 all SUPER HPC models will be manufactured using this high-tech method.
Agile Rider Geometry: We ran innumerable tests to develop the Agile Ride Geometry in our 2012 series of big wheel bikes. This year we add the 650B wheel size to the very well received portfolio. Three important details lead to the very agile character. Increased fork offsets let us achieve the same trail as our 26” bikes without having to steepen the head angle, thus maintaining generous toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly we shortened the chain stays without compromising the seat angle. We invented a patented construction to mount the front derailleur to give us more tyre clearance while keeping a conventional seat angle, leading to a perfect riding position for every rider size. Last but not least we kept the BB height same as on our 26" bikes. These measures lead to a natural riding position. Every mountain biker will feel immediately at home on a CUBE 29er.
Efficient Trail Control: We've overhauled our Efficient Trail Control series so that everyone can have more fun on the trail. With 650B and 29er wheel options our frames cover the widest range of riding on every terrain you can imagine. The totally new configured linear low lever ratio makes the bike very sensitive, avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. Steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent.
Fox Customised Setup: Sophisticated suspension kinematics are only able to work correctly if the associated shock is properly tuned. We researched and found a specific shock setup in cooperation with Fox Racing Shox, using extensive testing for almost every CUBE full-suspension model.
Integrated Cable Routing: Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.
Integrated Post Mount: The post mount system is found at all carbon fibre frames, the high end models of the touring bikes and the upper range aluminium models. The bolts and the IS adapter aren’t needed anymore, less parts mean less weight. In this case we save 30 grams. This may not sound a lot. But as you see, there is potential to save weight in every detail.
Press Fit BB: With press-fit bearings, the bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chain stays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.
X12 Through Axle: In this system, a cone is used to form a play-free connection. It is only necessary to tighten the axle from one side. The position of the wheel is done by an insert in the right-hand dropout which is secured by a bolt. The main advantages of the Syntace system are quick and simple changing of the wheel, reliable position of the brake disc and higher stiffness of the rear of the bike. This allows the assembly to be made lighter than a conventional through-axle.
Adaptable X12 Hanger: We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 thru-axle system. Enlarging the area at the frame where the hanger is sustained. We can now mount the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design one can also swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.
Wet Paint Surface: On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.
Trail Motion Rocker: The Trail Motion Rocker features optimized leverage ratios for every bike and intended use, giving fast reacting yet stable suspension in every situation. The computer-designed one piece construction of the rocker gives maximum stiffness for the best suspension performance while still being extremely lightweight.
Tapered Steerer: This new steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means that the greatest possible steering precision is generated. With the larger steerer the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.
