Spread The Word

The Cube Stereo Super HPC 140 SL 29er is built like a monster, all muscles, no fat. It's one of the finest all mountain 29ers on the market built with and extremely lightweight Super HPC Monocoque Frame that's been constructed with Cube's Advanced Twin Mould Technology; A High-Tech process that eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process. The lightweight frame is certain to allow you to push your limits further than ever before.

This Full Suspension AM Mountain Bike is perfect for anyone looking for an upgrade to enhance their performance. The Stereo Super HPC 140 SL has been tried, tested and created to ensure that when you ride a Cube 29er, you'll immediately feel at home and you'll maintain a natural riding position as well as retain the lively handling feel of 26" bikes.

The Stereo Super HPC 140 SL comes equipped with the finest components to give you maximum performance. Their Shimano Deore XT K-M7851 hydraulic disc brakes are essential for any rider as they allow you to maintain full control over your bike when on a trail. This bike also rocks Shimano XT components to support the attitude of this thoroughbred and features a RockShox Reverb Stealth seatpost to make your ride full of endless fun.

This fantastic bike also has one of the best fork and shock suspension combos on the market. It features a Fox 34 Talas CTD 29 air fork that has a sophisticated damping system, QR15 thru axle, tapered steerer, and comes with 110mm or 140mm travel. Meanwhile, its Fox Float CTD Adjust BoostValve shock comes with three compression modes, adjustable, rebound and Cube Custom Setup. This ensures you can set up the shock how you like to make you ride a lot more enjoyable.

The Stereo also features Shimano XT components that include a direct mount Shadow Plus rear derailleur to give your bike a professional touch. This fantastic AM bike also features efficient trail control so that everyone can have more fun on the trail and has a n extremely stiff monocoque full carbon fibre Trail Motion Rocker for perfect kinematics in all riding situations.

Amongst its epic components, Cube have designed their 29" bikes so that everyone can have more fun on the trail. With their efficient trail control, 29er wheel frames cover the widest range of riding on every terrain you can imagine. The totally new configured linear low lever ratio makes the bike very sensitive, avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. Steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent.

Features

Advanced Twin Mould: The Advanced Twin Mould process eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process. This is made possible by an internal form which provides the perfect frame form during the layup process. Each individual fibre remains precisely in position as it cures. In this way less material can be used as the individual layers can be more accurately and reliably positioned. This production method also makes it possible to increase the carbon fibre proportion in line with anticipated loadings at specific points on the frame. In 2013 all SUPER HPC models will be manufactured using this high-tech method.

Agile Ride Geometry: We ran innumerable tests to develop the Agile Ride Geometry in our 2012 series of big wheel bikes. This year we add the 650B wheel size to the very well received portfolio. Three important details lead to the very agile character. Increased fork offsets let us achieve the same trail as our 26” bikes without having to steepen the head angle, thus maintaining generous toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly we shortened the chain stays without compromising the seat angle. We invented a patented construction to mount the front derailleur to give us more tyre clearance while keeping a conventional seat angle, leading to a perfect riding position for every rider size. Last but not least we kept the BB height same as on our 26" bikes. These measures lead to a natural riding position. Every mountain biker will feel immediately at home on a CUBE 29er.

Efficient Trail Control: We've overhauled our Efficient Trail Control series so that everyone can have more fun on the trail. With 650B and 29er wheel options our frames cover the widest range of riding on every terrain you can imagine. The totally new configured linear low lever ratio makes the bike very sensitive, avoids bobbing and offers full usable travel all the time. Steep seat tube angles and slack head tube angles make these dream machines ready for action on the descent.

Fox Customised Setup: Sophisticated suspension kinematics are only able to work correctly if the associated shock is properly tuned. We researched and found a specific shock setup in cooperation with Fox Racing Shox, using extensive testing for almost every CUBE full-suspension model.

Integrated Cable Routing: Internally routed cables offer many advantages. Cables are protected from dirt for longer life, weight is saved thanks to the absence of external housing and the bike has a clean, sleek appearance.

Integrated Post Mount: The post mount system is found at all carbon fibre frames, the high end models of the touring bikes and the upper range aluminium models. The bolts and the IS adapter aren’t needed anymore, less parts mean less weight. In this case we save 30 grams. This may not sound a lot. But as you see, there is potential to save weight in every detail.

Press Fit Bb: With press-fit bearings, the bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chainstays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.

X12 Thru Axle: In this system, a cone is used to form a play-free connection. It is only necessary to tighten the axle from one side. The position of the wheel is done by an insert in the right-hand dropout which is secured by a bolt. The main advantages of the Syntace system are quick and simple changing of the wheel, reliable position of the brake disc and higher stiffness of the rear of the bike. This allows the assembly to be made lighter than a conventional through-axle.

Adaptable X12 Hanger: We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 thru-axle system. Enlarging the area at the frame where the hanger is sustained. We can now mount the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design one can also swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.

Wet Paint Surface: We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 thru-axle system. Enlarging the area at the frame where the hanger is sustained. We can now mount the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design one can also swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.

Trail Motion Rocker: The Trail Motion Rocker features optimized leverage ratios for every bike and intended use, giving fast reacting yet stable suspension in every situation. The computer-designed one piece construction of the rocker gives maximum stiffness for the best suspension performance while still being extremely lightweight.

Tapered Steerer: This new steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means that the greatest possible steering precision is generated. With the larger steerer the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.

Download the Cube Bike Sizing Guide PDF

The right size bike for your body size is essential to ensure the optimum experience, comfort and enjoyment as you ride. With sizing varying between the type of bike, the brand and even the model, getting the perfect fit can seem daunting. That’s why we’ve compiled a handy guide to help you get the correct size.

Measure Your Height

Our handy size charts match your height to the appropriate frame size so you need to be sure you’ve measured your height accurately.

  1. Take off your shoes and stand with your back against a wall.
  2. Make sure legs are together and your shoulders are back.
  3. Place a pencil on top of your head and mark the wall (the best and easiest way to do this properly is with a friend to help you).
  4. Measure from the floor to the pencil mark you have just made with a tape measure.

Range of Reach

For most people to get the right frame size, measuring your height will suffice. However, you may find that your height is on the borderline of the range we suggest for a particular frame. If this occurs you need to measure the range of your reach or “Ape Index”. This will ensure you get a comfortable distance between the handlebars and your saddle.

  1. Stand up straight with your back against a wall.
  2. Life your arms out horizontally either side of you.
  3. Measure the distance from fingertip of one hand to fingertip of the other. This will give you your arm span.
  4. Subtract your height from this figure to get your Ape Index.
  5. If the result is positive (your arm span is greater than your height) you should go for the larger size of bike.
  6. If the result is negative (your arm span is less than your height you need the smaller size.

Stand Over Height

You should also consider your inside leg measurement when choosing your bike to ensure adequate stand over height. Stand over height is the clearance between the top tube and the bottom of your crotch. For mountain bikes we recommend a distance of 2-4 inches and for road or hybrid bikes 1-2 inches of clearance is required. This will ensure comfort when you’re stopped and standing astride the bike.

Our bike sizing charts take stand over height into consideration but if you have a particularly long or short inside leg measurement in relation to your height you will need to bear this in mind when selecting your frame size.

Riding Style

The way you ride and the type of bike you are into will also impact the frame size you should choose. For example, a trail devotee looking for an aggressive ride may prefer a smaller, more manoeuvrable bike size. It all comes down to personal preference and how the bike feels to you.

Our sizing charts aim to be as specific as possible so you can look up the particular type, make and model of bike you’re looking for. Remember, the sizes given in our guides are suggestions and should be used for general advice only. For the best possible fit  we recommend popping in to your local Leisure Lakes Bikes store, or call 0800 083 0888 for expert advice tailored to you.
