The Cube AMS 100 Super HPC SLT 29er Full Suspension Mountain Bike is Cube's absolute high end, nothing-to-move, best-of-the-best machine. There's no other way to reduce weight as the bike is made from a Super HPC Monocoque Carbon Fibre frame that has been built using a high-tech advanced twin mould technology. This eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process, and it also makes it possible to increase the carbon fibre proportion in line with anticipated loadings at specific points on the frame. The frame also has X12 dropouts and has minimum aluminium parts to ensure the bike maintains its astonishingly light weight.
This Cube Mountain Bike is designed for any serious mountain bikers, looking to beat elite competition by having the lightest bike for the hardest rides. This bike has some of the best components on the market, including a pair of extra light Formula R1 Racing hydraulic disc brakes with titanium hardware, so you can have powerful braking performance wherever you may be. Hydraulic Disc Brakes are essential for any rider wanting to keep control of their bike throughout every terrain. The Cube AMS 100 Super HPC SLT also comes with a Race Face Next SL Carbon Fibre crank with a titanium axle, so pedalling feels almost weightless, enabling you to have the acceleration you need.
The AMS 100 Super HPC has one of the finest suspension systems on the market. It features a Kashima Coated Fox 32 Float 29 CTD Air fork that features a remote handlebar lever and has a tapered steerer; the frame also offers 100mm of travel to ensure your rides are even more comfortable. The bike also has a Kashima Coated Fox Float CTD Remote rear shock that features a trail and climb (lockout) mode option, rebound, and an adjustable handlebar lever. These two work hand-in-hand to ensure your rides are smooth and comfortable wherever you are.
This bike is a part of the AMS Range from Cube and comes with their exclusive Size Tuned Kinematics, a four-point suspension system which guarantees that every frame in every size will have exactly the same dynamic properties in terms of wheel travel, axle path and spring rate curve. Cube have also invested time and particular attention has been aimed at ensuring every rider can have the optimal and identical riding experience thanks to their Efficient Ride control.
This Full Suspension XC Mountain Bike also comes with some of the best components on the market, like its SRAM XX transmission which is lightweight and will give you high performance when you need it most. It also features the extremely light, but super stiff UST Compatible Easton EX90XC carbon fibre wheels that are sturdy enough to see you through any terrain with ease. The bike also has a press fit bottom bracket, meaning its bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chainstays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.
To finish off this amazing Mountain Bike, it has an extra light Cube full carbon saddle, and Syntace P6 Highflex carbon fibre seatpost to give you extra comfort. It also comes with a new tapered steerer tube; its design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain. Minimal flex at the front of the frame means that the greatest possible steering precision is generated. With the larger steerer the forks become more rigid. At the same time weight is saved due to the absence of bearing shells as the lower bearing is fully integrated into the head tube. On all of our CUBE carbon models the upper bearing shells are also directly in the frame, so that once more a few grams are saved and the energy transfer is very direct.
Features
Advanced Twin Mould: The Advanced Twin Mould process eliminates any dangerous folding by continuous control of carbon fibres during the curing process. This is made possible by an internal form which provides the perfect frame form during the layup process. Each individual fibre remains precisely in position as it cures. In this way less material can be used as the individual layers can be more accurately and reliably positioned. This production method also makes it possible to increase the carbon fibre proportion in line with anticipated loadings at specific points on the frame. In 2013 all SUPER HPC models will be manufactured using this high-tech method.
Agile Ride Geometry: We ran innumerable tests to develop the Agile Ride Geometry in our 2012 series of big wheel bikes. This year we add the 650B wheel size to the very well received portfolio. Three important details lead to the very agile character. Increased fork offsets let us achieve the same trail as our 26” bikes without having to steepen the head angle, thus maintaining generous toe clearance to the front wheel. Secondly we shortened the chain stays without compromising the seat angle. We invented a patented construction to mount the front derailleur to give us more tyre clearance while keeping a conventional seat angle, leading to a perfect riding position for every rider size. Last but not least we kept the BB height same as on our 26" bikes. These measures lead to a natural riding position. Every mountain biker will feel immediately at home on a CUBE 29er.
Size Tuned Kinematics: Size Tuned Kinematics is a four-pivot suspension technology developed exclusively by CUBE. It guarantees that every frame in every size will have exactly the same dynamic properties in terms of wheel travel, axle path and spring rate curve.
Efficient Ride Control: A very well received development which is used in all AMS models including the all-new AMS 100 Super HPC 29. With Efficient Ride Control particular attention has been given to the fact that irrespective of body size EVERY rider can have the optimum and identical riding experience. Here on a model-by-model basis we have differently designed the linkage geometry so that all frame sizes have the same travel and spring rate curves (STK). In addition the kinematics have been optimised specifically to travel in respect of sensitivity, drive and no bobbing. For this it was necessary to specially position all rear pivot points. Whether the rider is large or small, with any of these models he will always have the optimum ride experience.
Fox Customised Setup: Sophisticated suspension kinematics are only able to work correctly if the associated shock is properly tuned. We researched and found a specific shock setup in cooperation with Fox Racing Shox, using extensive testing for almost every CUBE full-suspension model.
FSP 4-Link: The key requirement is for continuously active and fully usable travel, with the rear triangle unaffected by pedalling or especially braking forces. There are a number of ways of achieving this – CUBE favours a four pivot chainstay construction. Here, one of the pivots is located between the dropout and the chainstay, ensuring that braking does not have a negative effect on the movement of the rear wheel. By carefully positioning the remaining pivots, we obtain the finest riding qualities for our full suspension bikes both uphill and downhill. This fact is proven by many top test results in leading magazines over the last few years.
Tapered Steerer: This new steerer tube design is stiffer than a conventional straight steerer and generates a more secure ride feel even in difficult terrain.
Integrated Post Mount: The postmount system is found at all carbon fibre frames, the high end models of the touring bikes and the upper range aluminium models. The bolts and the IS adapter aren’t needed anymore, less parts mean less weight. In this case we save 30 grams. This may not sound a lot. But as you see, there is potential to save weight in every detail.
Press Fit BB: With press-fit bearings, the bottom bracket bearings are pressed directly into the frame and not screwed in as usual. This gives a wider bottom bracket shell and allows to build a wider down tube and more broadly-spaced chainstays. Every millimetre of additional width gives a significant improvement in lateral stiffness.
X12 Through Axle: In this system, a cone is used to form a play-free connection. It is only necessary to tighten the axle from one side. The position of the wheel is done by an insert in the right-hand dropout which is secured by a bolt. The main advantages of the Syntace system are quick and simple changing of the wheel, reliable position of the brake disc and higher stiffness of the rear of the bike. This allows the assembly to be made lighter than a conventional through-axle.
Adaptable X12 Hanger: We optimized our new dropout design based on the Syntace X12 thru-axle system. Enlarging the area at the frame where the hanger is sustained. We can now mount the longer Direct Mount hangers. Shifting precision and stiffness is therefore improved. With the new design one can also swap the whole contact area of the axle with the hanger should the system be worn out.
Wet Paint Surface: On polished, brushed aluminium and all HPC frames, the logos and graphics are applied in multi-layer wet paint. We use this surface treatment technology mainly to save weight.
