The Vice is Specialized's top-end open face trail helmet and has strong strands of DNA from the 'best of the rest'. Imagine the shape of the Flux, venting from the Xar and almost the depth of the Poc and you get the drift. It's why, for the money, Specialized sell loads of them. It would probably sell more if it had an adjustable visor. That said, the Vice us very accomplished piece of design, moving air efficiently to make it hardly and more sweaty than Specialized's XC-specific lids. Fit is vice-like thanks to the deep sides, which make you feel like your head's in a safe place. Visor aside it's hard to find fault with the Vice.

Professional Review for Specialized Vice Mountain Bike Helmet - SALE

The Vice gives an extraordinarily protected reassurance for an open face helmet. It comes at the price of some extra grams, but the comfort and security are great. The deep rear section is kept securely snug thanks to a fit system that allows you to adjust height as well as width. Getting the height sorted by way of poppers is fiddly, but it's worth spending those few minutes for solid performance. The width across the front allows for extra vents, and with even more vents under the peak you get a really efficient airflow for a helmet with this much protective bulk. When we're nervy about what the day's trail will throw up, we'd like to wear this.

If you have weak hands, you're going to have to get a grown-up to adjust the height adjustment on the Specialized Headset SL retention device, because the straps are a really tight fit and engage with a sharp snap. In fact they were so tight I damaged the press-stud when I removed them. On the plus side, the retention device has a wide range of adjustment for head sizes and winter beanies and the adjustment dial has a nice audible click. Venting has always been a priority for Specialized and with the latest Fourth Dimension Cooling and 'wind tunnel optimized Mouthport', basically a big vent on your forehead, moisture never collected on my temples. Like all the helmets on test, the Vice is in-moulded and is bottom wrapped for added durability with the extra reinforcement of an internal Composite matrix cage. The only weak point is the lack of an adjustable visor and the fact that it's bolt-on so can't even be bent out of the way. This helmet would really benefit from an angled visor or some different sizes that you could bolt on. Specialized also needs to flatten the back of the U-Turn strap adjusters because they dig uncomfortably into the jawline.

How to Ship to Store

Your bike will be built and tested by our Cytech trained mechanics - When your receive your bike just open the box, turn the handlebars, push on the pedals and go!
You will receive your own bike servicing folder including - pedal wrench, multi-tool & bike servicing history card.
