Description

The Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp Evo 29er Mountain Bike 2014 has been loaded with features and technologies for exceptional trail performance.

Spread The Word

The Specialized Stumpjump FSR Comp Evo 29er 2014 features a lightweight yet durable M5 aluminium alloy frame which offers 135mm rear wheel. The EVO geometry and sealed cartridge pivots push the boundaries of trail riding further than ever. This bike features a RockShox Revelation RC3 29er fork which provides you with 140mm travel and a tapered steerer for precision steering. The fork has a 3-position damper and it features lockout technology for efficient climbing. This frame and fork combination creates a lightweight trail bike which is capable of ripping technical descents.

This full suspension XC bike rolls on wide Roval Rims with Specialized Hi Lo Disc hubs for confident riding due to increase wheel stiffness. The custom Formula C1 disc brakes offers great modulation and will keep you in control of your bike in all conditions. This bike features a Fox Float Evolution Series shock which allows you to benefit from Fox Forx CTD and Specialized’s AUTOSAG technology. This ensures you’re suspension is always on the optimal setting and you’re be able to ride more efficiently whether you’re climbing trailing or descending.

The Command Post Blacklite is another epic feature on the Stumpjumper Comp Evo 29er. This clever piece of kit allows you to easily adjust the height of your saddle on-the-fly with a simple flick of a lever. The Butcher and Purgatory tyres from Specialized provide insane traction and superior control on the trickiest trails.

Specialized Stumpjumper FSR 2014

This ultra-versatile trail machine is constantly changing and improving year-on-year since it was launched in 1981. The sport has evolved since then, but the heart remains true to adventure and premium trail riding performance. The Stumpjumper FSR is available in both 26” and 29er wheel sizes and specific EVO models have been created to suit specific riding styles. Equipped with advanced features like AUTOSAG technology, the Dangler and the Command Post dropper seatpost, you’re always guaranteed an outstanding ride.

Specialized 29" Mountain Bikes

As the 2014 Specialized mountain bike range hit the trails you are probably wondering what all the 29" wheel fuss is about. Specialized have been developing their 29er mountain bike range for a number of years and we think this year they are better than ever! Check out the full low down on the Specialized 29er Technology but to skim the surface here is a few facts:

  • Float over Obstacles. 29-inch wheels “float” over rocks, roots and sand; which gives the rider more control.
  • Roll over bumps. Thanks to a 6.1% lower angle over a 130mm bump, 29-inch wheels don’t get hung up on ledges or shelves.
  • Boost control. A longer section of tyre touches the ground. This expanded "contact patch" translates directly to increased control.
  • Go Faster Once rolling, a 29er wheel maintains momentum much better than the standard 26-inch.

Those who hate on 29ers obviously haven't ridden this yet, feels just as nippy in the twisty stuff as my 26 but acts like a monster truck when you want it too. Definitely the funnest and fastest bike I've ever ridden.

Download the Specialized Bike Sizing Guide PDF

The right size bike for your body size is essential to ensure the optimum experience, comfort and enjoyment as you ride. With sizing varying between the type of bike, the brand and even the model, getting the perfect fit can seem daunting. That’s why we’ve compiled a handy guide to help you get the correct size.

Measure Your Height

Our handy size charts match your height to the appropriate frame size so you need to be sure you’ve measured your height accurately.

  1. Take off your shoes and stand with your back against a wall.
  2. Make sure legs are together and your shoulders are back.
  3. Place a pencil on top of your head and mark the wall (the best and easiest way to do this properly is with a friend to help you).
  4. Measure from the floor to the pencil mark you have just made with a tape measure.

Range of Reach

For most people to get the right frame size, measuring your height will suffice. However, you may find that your height is on the borderline of the range we suggest for a particular frame. If this occurs you need to measure the range of your reach or “Ape Index”. This will ensure you get a comfortable distance between the handlebars and your saddle.

  1. Stand up straight with your back against a wall.
  2. Life your arms out horizontally either side of you.
  3. Measure the distance from fingertip of one hand to fingertip of the other. This will give you your arm span.
  4. Subtract your height from this figure to get your Ape Index.
  5. If the result is positive (your arm span is greater than your height) you should go for the larger size of bike.
  6. If the result is negative (your arm span is less than your height you need the smaller size.

Stand Over Height

You should also consider your inside leg measurement when choosing your bike to ensure adequate stand over height. Stand over height is the clearance between the top tube and the bottom of your crotch. For mountain bikes we recommend a distance of 2-4 inches and for road or hybrid bikes 1-2 inches of clearance is required. This will ensure comfort when you’re stopped and standing astride the bike.

Our bike sizing charts take stand over height into consideration but if you have a particularly long or short inside leg measurement in relation to your height you will need to bear this in mind when selecting your frame size.

Riding Style

The way you ride and the type of bike you are into will also impact the frame size you should choose. For example, a trail devotee looking for an aggressive ride may prefer a smaller, more manoeuvrable bike size. It all comes down to personal preference and how the bike feels to you.

Our sizing charts aim to be as specific as possible so you can look up the particular type, make and model of bike you’re looking for. Remember, the sizes given in our guides are suggestions and should be used for general advice only. For the best possible fit  we recommend popping in to your local Leisure Lakes Bikes store, or call 0800 083 0888 for expert advice tailored to you.
