Description

The Specialized Jett 29er Womens Hardtail Mountain Bike 2014 offers the smooth ride and improved handling of 29" wheels with Women's specific XC 29er geometry.

Spread The Word

The Specialized Jett 29er Womens Hardtail Mountain Bike 2014 features a fully butted and formed, lightweight M4 aluminium alloy frame to deliver fast acceleration and climbing whilst remaining stable on descents. The frame has the lowest possible standover height and it features women’s specific XC 29er geometry for increased comfort and durability. Through forming and butting the M4 aluminium, Specialized have produced the lightest frame possible, without sacrificing any strength.

This women's hardtail mountain bike has been fitted with the all-new women's Body Geometry Riva saddle and women's Body Geometry XCT grips. This offers the highest level of comfort when you're riding so you don't stiffen up when riding for long periods of time. Specialized have chosen components for each women's bike individually, based on frame size and geometry. This is to meet the needs of female riders of all sizes and ensure they have the highest level of comfort and best possible fit at every contact point on the bike.

The custom-tuned RockShox 29" fork provides 80mm travel to absorb vibrations for a plush ride. The Jett 29er also features Tektro Draco 2 hydraulic disc brakes with shorter reach levers for women; this provides superior, precise braking power for complete control of your bike.

Specialized Jett 29er Womens Hardtail 2014 Features

  • Fully butted, smooth-welded M4 Premium Aluminum frame with Women's XC 29er Geometry delivers a confident and lightweight ride, with integrated headset for precision handling
  • Custom-tuned 80mm-travel RockShox 29" fork with hydraulic damping, lockout, and women's spring weights delivers the supple ride qualities of a premium suspension fork
  • Lightweight and durable double-wall alloy rims are tough enough to handle the rough stuff
  • Custom Samox crankset with forged alloy arms and Octalink-splined BB interface means greater durability and better shifting performance
  • Tektro Draco dual-piston hydraulic disc brakes and women's shorter reach levers assure precise braking and durability
  • Women's Body Geometry Riva Comp saddle features a women's cutout and plush seating area for all-day riding comfort

The Specialized Jett Comp is part of Specialized's women's specific range of bikes. Designed to deliver a full, uncompromising range of products just for females with an option to suit every woman. Whether it's smaller diameter tubing and lighter bike weights, or finely tuned suspension, Specialized create bikes and equipment that are focused and driven by real needs and wants. Their bikes are 100% inspired and built for the women who ride them.

Specialized Jett 2014

Specialized have built the Jett to provide you with a capable, comfortable, and versatil hardtail 29er which is perfect from neighbourhood trails to fast-rolling single-track. This women's specific ride has been equipped with carefully selected XC components for great handling and ride quality. Specialized have implemented Women's specific XC 29er geometry to provide you with the optimal balance of comfort and performance.

Specialized 29" Mountain Bikes

As the 2014 Specialized mountain bike range hit the trails you are probably wondering what all the 29" wheel fuss is about. Specialized have been developing their 29er mountain bike range for a number of years and we think this year they are better than ever! Check out the full low down on the Specialized 29er Technology but to skim the surface here is a few facts:

  • Float over Obstacles. 29-inch wheels “float” over rocks, roots and sand; which gives the rider more control.
  • Roll over bumps. Thanks to a 6.1% lower angle over a 130mm bump, 29-inch wheels don’t get hung up on ledges or shelves.
  • Boost control. A longer section of tyre touches the ground. This expanded "contact patch" translates directly to increased control.
  • Go Faster Once rolling, a 29er wheel maintains momentum much better than the standard 26-inch.

Download the Women's Specialized Bike Sizing Guide PDF

The right size bike for your body size is essential to ensure the optimum experience, comfort and enjoyment as you ride. With sizing varying between the type of bike, the brand and even the model, getting the perfect fit can seem daunting. That’s why we’ve compiled a handy guide to help you get the correct size.

Measure Your Height

Our handy size charts match your height to the appropriate frame size so you need to be sure you’ve measured your height accurately.

  1. Take off your shoes and stand with your back against a wall.
  2. Make sure legs are together and your shoulders are back.
  3. Place a pencil on top of your head and mark the wall (the best and easiest way to do this properly is with a friend to help you).
  4. Measure from the floor to the pencil mark you have just made with a tape measure.

Range of Reach

For most people to get the right frame size, measuring your height will suffice. However, you may find that your height is on the borderline of the range we suggest for a particular frame. If this occurs you need to measure the range of your reach or “Ape Index”. This will ensure you get a comfortable distance between the handlebars and your saddle.

  1. Stand up straight with your back against a wall.
  2. Life your arms out horizontally either side of you.
  3. Measure the distance from fingertip of one hand to fingertip of the other. This will give you your arm span.
  4. Subtract your height from this figure to get your Ape Index.
  5. If the result is positive (your arm span is greater than your height) you should go for the larger size of bike.
  6. If the result is negative (your arm span is less than your height you need the smaller size.

Stand Over Height

You should also consider your inside leg measurement when choosing your bike to ensure adequate stand over height. Stand over height is the clearance between the top tube and the bottom of your crotch. For mountain bikes we recommend a distance of 2-4 inches and for road or hybrid bikes 1-2 inches of clearance is required. This will ensure comfort when you’re stopped and standing astride the bike.

Our bike sizing charts take stand over height into consideration but if you have a particularly long or short inside leg measurement in relation to your height you will need to bear this in mind when selecting your frame size.

Riding Style

The way you ride and the type of bike you are into will also impact the frame size you should choose. For example, a trail devotee looking for an aggressive ride may prefer a smaller, more manoeuvrable bike size. It all comes down to personal preference and how the bike feels to you.

Our sizing charts aim to be as specific as possible so you can look up the particular type, make and model of bike you’re looking for. Remember, the sizes given in our guides are suggestions and should be used for general advice only. For the best possible fit  we recommend popping in to your local Leisure Lakes Bikes store, or call 0800 083 0888 for expert advice tailored to you.
